Electric RC Boat - Float or Fly? Why not both?

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

If driving on just land, cruising across just water, or just flying around in the air is getting boring, why not do all 3 with the 4 channel RC flying boat? This Electric RC Boat, called the Hydro Flyer, does all 3! So whether you are out at the lake, playing in your backyard, or have a lot of air to cover, consider it done! This is the ultimate RC vehicle for a fun hobby wherever you are at. It is rather sizable at 26.8 inches long and 16 inches wide, which in my opinion, makes it easier to keep an eye on as you fly it through the air, cruise across the lake, or up the beach.

The Hydro Flyer is full of features. It has a super tough, lightweight airframe molded out of plastic and foam construction, has a brushless motor, and a 4 channel transmitter receiver, backed by a standard 4 channel radio system. The Hydro Flyer comes 100% pre-assembled, making it RTR, and uses a high speed motor for faster speeds and to help it get off the ground. The propellers are expert designed for the best performance.

Where can i use it? Since it is designed for all terrains, you can virtually use this electric RC boat anywhere! If you are planning a trip to the lake, bring it along and race your boat with it. If you are going camping where there is a nice sized field, bring it along and show off its flight capabilities. Are you bored at home? Pull it out and give it a run in the back yard. I would not recommend running it on asphalt though, this could damage the plastic hull making it not as effective in the water, or possibly even put holes, making it unable to float.

How long does it take to charge? The Hydro Flyer takes 1 hour to charge, which gives you a full 20 - 35 minutes run time.

What age group is it most fitted for? The Hydro Flyer is probably most suitable for people above the age of 12. It has a higher powered motor and has the capability of flying, making it probably not the best vehicles for younger children.

What comes with it? Being RTR, it comes with everything you need to charge it up and go play. Included in the package is the instruction manual, 4 channel remote controller (8 AA batteries not included), 11.1V 1200Amh rechargeable battery, battery charge adapter (110V), and an extra propeller.

Electric RC Plane - Diversify Your Landing Options

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

If you are ready to take flight with an electric RC plane, but you don’t have a large field nearby to fly one, then the 4-channel Float and Land Plane might be the answer for you!The 4-Channel Float and Land Plane has the ability to take-off and land on both land and sea. This “specially designed” plane comes with landing gear for land, or wheels, and also comes with “floats” for landing on water. So whether you have a field to fly it in, or if you are going to the lake, you can take RC fun with you. All you have to do is remove and replace the landing gear for the terrain you are planning to use it on.

This plane has excellent control and stability, making it easier to learn with than more complex, more expensive planes. It is steady in flight and very easy to master. It also is a great plane for flying at slow speed. Flying at slow speed makes it easier to fly in restricted-space and low altitude situations, so if you are flying in a small field or above a small lake, you have better control. Overall, it is an outstanding Float plane and Land plane for all different ranges of flyer’s, skilled or not.

The 4-Channel Float and Land Plane comes ready to fly (RTF). It operates with an electric motor, powered by an 11.1v 1200mah Nimh battery. The maximum operating range is approximately 800 feet and has a 4-channel remote system. The dimensions of the plane are (approximately) 16 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 10 inches high. The package includes the manual, the remote (8 AA batteries NOT included), the battery pack, and the 110v home charger. It weighs in at about 23 pounds.

Like any RC plane or helicopter, i personally would not recommend this for children under the age of 12 for the simple fact that you are flying and any loss of control can be detrimental to your plane. But, regardless of age, there is a learning curve for all “first time” flyer’s. If you don’t want to risk the investment, there are plenty of electric RC planes from the price range of $30 and up. Select a little less expensive one and start you flight training in comfort of the lower cost.

The other option I would recommend, that helps with the learning curve, is to start out with an electric RC helicopter. RC helicopters are easier to get used to because they can hover making it easier to gain control, take-off, and land. But, regardless of the choice of vehicles you make, moving into the world of RC flight is an exhilarating way to take your RC fetish to the next level!
